Ok..so by now Jesus has got my attention… the next step was to take a few close friends into our confidence who could pray over the whole affair and to begin to plan a visit to Lublin.
Of course I guess many people reading this will be thinking this is just a series of coincidences but through my life as a Christian I have come to the conclusion that whilst this may be true I wouldn’t want to miss out if it wasnt just a coincidence. I was due to go back to Warsaw in the spring of ‘09 so it seemed sensible that this would be a good time to tag an extra day on to the trip and go to Lubin. Unfortunately that trip was cancelled and my tenure as one of the Poland support team came to an end. This meant that we would have to find funds to make the whole of the trip ourselves which frankly made the prospect less than a possibility.
However things started moving again when Heather and I went on our sabbatical leave at the beginning of June ‘09. As part of the overall plans for our sabbatical time we included the trip to Lublin though we had no idea how we could pay for it. On the evening we made the plans (!) and committed to try and go I received a phone call from Alberto Serem (Officer Commanding Portugal) who
invited Heather and I to go and speak at the National Youth Councils late september. Though it was in our sabbatical time (ie not supposed to do any work) this seemed providential and so we said a conditional yes to Alberto. If he would be good enough to pay our flights from London to Lisbon and then, instead of sending us home, flew us on to Warsaw then we would go. He agreed and so we had the first part of the trip in place.
Now we had to figure out how to pay for a hotel in Warsaw, train to Lubin, accomodation in Lublin and flight home via Warsaw. With the weakness of Sterling this was going to be expensive.
Next evening we had a knock on the door from one of the senior leaders at our church arnoldarmy……….

Here is the story that started in a prayer meeting at Roots and ended in the town square of a city in the eastern border region of Poland.
At Roots conference 2008 I was quietly praying away minding my own business when I had the rare (for me) sense that God was saying something specific and important to me. I tried to listen as closely as I could but all I could discern was Him telling me to go to Lublin, stand in the town square and that it was something to do with the evil of people trafficking. I jotted those details down in my journal straight away and returned home to Nottingham somewhat confused.

Poland - with Lublin to the East
By now Jesus had my attention……..
